Dear clients
What a year 2024 has been! We’ve had a wonderful year of field days and farm visits, as Josh, Tash, Antoinette, Ruth and myself have journeyed around the country to catch up with many of you. Notable events this year include our return to Beef (Rockhampton) and Henty Field Days, as well as our busiest Agfest ever!

Some favourable, and not so favourable, weather conditions across the country have made for some challenging animal health problems to solve and parasites to manage.

For the dry areas down south, we’ve stressed the importance of sticking to your strategic drenching programs, where possible, while the stock are grazing close to the ground. Proactive worm control and mineral supplementation is vital when feed is scarce. We want to ensure your stock have the building blocks (trace minerals) for growth. It’s also important to keep them parasite free so their energy goes toward maintenance and growth, rather than toward fighting infection.

In QLD, we continue to work hard to help people get on top of Cattle Ticks after such a crazy tick season last year. On that note, Vetmec LA is working wonders on the Cattle Tick in QLD. There’s a little note over the page, but I cannot stress the importance of keeping on top of your Cattle Tick treatment program to dampen the peak of the season. We’ve also been having some interesting conversations about how Vetmec LA can help with the long-term control of Bush and Paralysis ticks. If you’re keen for a chat about that, just give us a call!

Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas and new year period. We look forward to providing the same great Chemvet products and service for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025!

Best wishes
Murray

LEV Pour-On = Bonus Applicator!

Like we’ve said before, if you’ve been using ‘mectin injections or pour-ons on their own for a while, it’s a great idea to add Vetmec LEV Pour-On (levamisole) to your drench program at least once a year. Adding an active ingredient when drenching will clean up the cattle beautifully as well as reduce the likelihood of worms building resistance to your drenches.

Buy 2+ Drums of Vetmec LEV Pour-On & get a FREE Pour-On Applicator!
*Until 31st January 2025*

PROTECT Against QLD Cattle Tick

A reminder to stay on top of your cattle tick (Rhipicephalus microplus) control strategy this year. Initial treatments will be coming to the end of their protection period meaning it’s time to give another dose or Vetmec LA, Vetmec Tickmaster or Tickmaster Plus. Give us a call 1800 243 683 if you would like more information about ticks, product prices etc.

Strategic Summer Drench

As it gets hotter and dries off, this is the best time to deliver one (or two) strategic summer drenches. The sheep are not likely to be showing signs of worms, but we are drenching the worms (however few) that are in the sheep to reduce the overall worm population in and around your flocks. This means that when the break hits next autumn, there won’t be a mass emergence of worms that will leave you feeling on the back foot. We’ve got a little special on sheep drench to help you out!

Discounts and rebates vary by state and most are applied at the time of sale so there’s no extra paperwork! Tag Prices Rising on 1st January 2025

For the usual reasons, Datamars are increasing the price of their tags. We have done the best to mitigate the increase in cost to you, however, there is small price rise effective on the 1st of January 2025. The details are on our website, or give us a call if you have any questions.

BUY IN DECEMBER AND SAVE!

The Datamars factory also works on a skeleton staff over Christmas and New Year so it’s almost impossible to get tags processed in a rush. We appreciate your patience but if you are going to need tags in December or January, please order ASAP (plus avoid a price rise)!
